Recently, TDI CEO Paul Innella sat down for an interview with Karla Reffold, host of the ZeroHourPodcast. Discussed were a wide variety of topics from Paul’s experiences in his early years, experience starting a business, standing out in a crowded cybersecurity market, changing the industry, and his time as the chair of the WhiteHat charity.
Karla begins the interview by asking about Paul’s childhood which starts the discussion on Paul’s international experience having been born abroad and growing up visiting family in Rome. This expands into a larger discussion about how these experiences influenced Paul and how that has contributed to his outlook on business, which bleeds into a discussion on Paul’s entrepreneurial aspirations from a young age. With some great insight on the cybersecurity market, Paul also mentioned the glut of cybersecurity products and services on the market and where CnSight fits into that picture. Standing out in the crowded cybersecurity market has been difficult in recent times, so the general strategy seems to be not to compete directly with the litany of cybersecurity tools in the marketplace, but to instead compliment them to augment their effectiveness.
The last half of the interview starts off with Paul’s thoughts on how the industry is measuring the wrong metrics when it comes to measuring cybersecurity performance with ever increasing cybersecurity spend, poor performance tracking, and poor cybersecurity representation on corporate boards. Karla followed up by changing the conversation towards the changing industry landscape this year with the unprecedented work-from-home workforce shift and what cybersecurity challenges that businesses must answer. Afterwards, Karla prompts Paul to talk a bit about his work with the charity WhiteHat and what it took to set up the WhiteHat Gala in association with Childrens’ National.
